MATERIAL/IMMATERIALITY: works produced during a one month residency at SÌM, Reykyavik, Iceland

Watercolour and mixed media on recycled paper: 16.5 cm x 12 cm image on 29.5 cm x 21 cm paper

Material/Immateriality incorporates visible, active geoplogical processes and elemental forces to register time and erosion through an engagement of materials drawn directly from Icelandic terrain: lava, ash, peat, wool, black sand, porcelain and geopthermal clay. These works on paper locate the ecological and cultural politics of Iceland's particular volatility–as physical residue and the loss it signifies, ecome inseparable. This body of work is part of an ongoing exploration towards physically connecting energy, matter and changing environmental ecologies.
